UPDATE 21/12/25 – I’m back in Vietnam and have unfortunately have a very negative experience at the Careplus District 7 branch. Please disregard the review below, this company is no longer recommended. I’m still arranging the operation now but this page will be fully updated with my experience when I have finished finalising the operation.
Update: OK, I’m back home and finally found time to write up my experience. I’ll post it below, and I’ll leave the previous (glowing and five star) review for the district one branch up for contrast.
Update: My Experience at CarePlus District 7
I previously wrote a glowing review of CarePlus in District 1, but I’ve had a very different experience recently at the District 7 branch by Crescent Mall. This trip to Vietnam was specifically for medical tourism, and with a major surgery approaching, I had a tight schedule. I had arranged a quote for an ABI, ultrasound, and dexa scan before I even arrived. Once in Saigon, I confirmed these tests through their website chat and even walked into the District 7 branch in person to double-check. The staff there, including a woman with a Philippine accent, told me everything was available except for dental, which was booked up.
I eventually managed to book a dental slot for Friday at 3:15 PM via their website, which I confirmed again via chat. I arrived an hour early on the day to get the ultrasound and ABI out of the way, as I needed the results for a Monday consultation with my surgeon to discuss my circulation and clotting risks. However, as soon as I checked in, they told me the ABI machine had been broken for months. I’ve been told at least three times over the last month that I could get this test here, and to be told it was impossible only when I arrived was incredibly frustrating. To make matters worse, I saw a staff member behind the counter laughing about the situation while it was being explained to me.
The staff tried to make a gesture by moving my dental appointment forward for free, so I stayed. I am very particular about dentists and had specifically booked a senior doctor, Dr. Bui Xuan Dat. But when I was led into the room, the dentist was very young and clearly wasn’t him. I showed the staff my booking and the doctor’s photo, and they admitted he doesn’t even work at that branch on Fridays. The website had simply allowed me to book a doctor who wasn’t there.
I ended up leaving with no tests, no dental work, and no apology. I sent a formal complaint to CarePlus explaining that my trip had been largely wasted and that I’d be updating my site and YouTube channel to warn other medical tourists, but they never replied. It seems there is a total breakdown in efficiency at this branch, and they are happy to sell services and book appointments for doctors who aren’t even on the premises.
I initially found this place from a simple websearch. I emailed them a query for an MRI price and they got straight back to me with a range, which I assumed was with and without contrast.
When I went there in person the initial point of contact is actually the cashiers as far as I could make out. This first point of contact was mixed genders. I spoke to a lady who tried hard to get my passport but I declined as it was a simple query and I was allowed up to imaging to make my query.
Once there the staff all spoke English, and were enthusiastic and friendly. The price they quoted me was the same as I had originally been emailed and indeed was with or without contrast. To help me decide what I needed they let me speak to the radiiologist for free. He looked at my Xray and said no need for contrast.
I went back to reception. The plan had been to go to FV, but Careplus was so nice that I changed my mind and made an appointment for the next day. They suggested the morning so I could see the doctor for another twenty dollars. This wasn’t manditory, they would have been quite happy my ordering my own MRI, but I decided to see the doctor anyway.
Next day they called me via the Zallo app to remind me. I spoke briefly to the doctor, who confirmed no contrast necessary. I went to a changing room, put my things in a locker and put a robe on.
The MRI was comfortable and professional and I’d say less than 20 minutes. I asked for classical music and it was Chopin! Everything was explained to me and I was totally relaxed.
Afterwards I changed back and spoke to the doctor. He said it’s bad and replace both hips, possibly at the same time. He made a call for me and suggested trying Cho Ray in Phnom Pehn. He didn’t physically examine me other than to squeeze my shin and say I have venuous insufficiency caused by the unstable hip and it will go if I get the hip replaced (which is contrary to what AI is telling me). While I was there he told the receptionist (in Vietnamese) that he was waiving his fee (no idea why as I didn’t ask for this).
So then I received a report in English, which is only two sentences and AI tells me that might be a little short. I gave them my USB and they put the DICOM file on there, with instructions on how to open it.
I went downstairs and paid with an international credit card at no extra charge. Total cost less than 100usd.
I’ll add here that all staff, from cashier to doctors, spoke perfect English, everyone was enthusiastic and helpful. The environment was modern and clean. It’s literally the best clinic I ever went to and so I am very happy to recommend this place.
